Abstract

The article examines current trends in the transformation of the legal protection system for honor and dignity of the individual in the context of digitalization and the rapid development of information and communication technologies. The relevance of the study is driven by the growing number of digital offenses, including cyberbullying, online defamation, dissemination of false information, and the use of deepfake technologies, which significantly increase the risks of violating non-material personal rights. The aim of the research is to analyze the impact of the digital environment on legal mechanisms for protecting honor and dignity, as well as to identify the features of integrating international standards into national legal systems. The study employs systemic, comparative-legal, and formal legal analysis methods. The scientific novelty lies in a comprehensive examination of the transformation of legal protection mechanisms in the digital environment, taking into account international standards of the United Nations and the European Court of Human Rights. The results demonstrate that digitalization acts both as a source of new threats and as a driver of legal modernization, requiring the development of electronic evidence, expedited procedures for removing unlawful content, and improved regulation of digital platforms’ liability. The study concludes that harmonization of national legislation with international standards is essential for ensuring effective protection of honor and dignity in the digital era.
