Abstract
This article investigates the stylistic functions of punctuation marks in belle-lettres discourse from a comparative English–Uzbek perspective. Moving beyond the traditional view of punctuation as a purely syntactic and orthographic system, the study conceptualizes punctuation as a dynamic stylistic device that contributes to expressive meaning-making in literary and semi-literary texts. The primary aim is to identify how punctuation marks function as tools of emotional expression, narrative organization, and authorial voice construction within belle-lettres writing.
