Abstract
This article investigates the problem of national color in the short stories of the prominent Uzbek writer Shukur Kholmirzayev from a semiotic (sign system) perspective. Ethnographic elements, linguistic units, spatial and temporal relations, as well as national symbols within the author's works are classified and analyzed as semiotic codes.
